JACK COOPER TRANSPORT ANNOUNCES  NEW CONTRACTS WITH AUTO MANUFACTURERS

Kansas City, Missouri – Jack Cooper Transport announced today that the company has been awarded significant new business to deliver vehicles for two major OEMs to dealers in the US and Canada.  The locations involved were previously served by the industry’s largest carhauler, Allied Systems.  The two OEMs both terminated their contracts with Allied after the carrier suspended deliveries for the auto manufacturers on March 17, 2011.

In a letter to employees dated March 24, 2011, the Company announced it had been awarded contracts to deliver  vehicles from fifteen assembly and distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada .  The new contracts represent approximately 550,000 vehicles per year to be delivered to dealers.  “To support this new business, during the past week we have invested $12.5 million in the purchase of over 175 used rigs and redeployed about 300 rigs from our existing fleet which were previously idle” said Bob Griffin, CEO of Jack Cooper Holdings Corp.  “We have plans to invest approximately $50 million additional this year in our fleet, including refurbishment of nearly every idle rig in our fleet.  We believe it is likely we will win additional business this year which will enable us to fully utilize all of our parked rigs.”

 Jack Cooper Transport is a transporter of automobiles serving the automotive industry, including manufacturers of new cars and light trucks and secondary markets of used vehicles.  The Company operates a fleet of approximately 1,250 carhaul rigs in the U.S. and Canada.
